Hello and Welcome to the brand-new Cold Spring Hills Blog!

Let’s introduce ourselves.

My name is Josef Simpser. I am the administrator of Cold Spring Hills (CSH) since the end of 2021. I have been working in the healthcare field for close to 20 years with about half of that specifically in long term care. I am happy to be here at CSH and to work with the amazing team we are building to support and care for your loved ones.

My partner in this new blog is Rebecca Axelrad. She is a social media and marketing guru who has been working with us for several years. Together, we hope to give you an inside peak to the workings of Cold Spring Hills while sharing some interesting tips, tricks, and enlightening information. Join us as we explore the different facets that make CSH great!

I’ll share the first insight into the workings of CSH. Every morning we have a leadership meeting (called morning report, I know not very original) to discuss what has occurred over the past 24 hours and if there is anything that needs the team’s attention. This is one of the times that we bring up specific residents’ care and concerns so that they can be addressed by the team.

Throughout my career, I have learned that how people start their day can set the pace for the rest of it. As such, one of the things that I implemented when I first started at CSH is that someone shares something motivational, whether a quote, prayer, or thought, each day before our morning report (don’t worry, I always have a backup in case no one has something prepared). Over the past 9 months, we have had some great quotes and thoughts shared that have really inspired and motivated us to move to great things. I would like to share a few of them:

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The greatest discovery of the 20th Century is that our attitude of mind determines our quality of life, not circumstances.” – William James

“You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.” – Maya Angelou

“If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.” – Napoleon Hill

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” – Dolly Parton

This is just a snippet of some of the great quotes we have heard over the past 9 months. Stay tuned as we share more inside information about CSH (and some early releases of some changes to come). In the meantime, have a wonderful week, and Happy Labor Day!
